New council homes on the way in East Kilbride
Published: Tuesday 13 October 2026
Work is almost complete on 40 new council homes at Jackton in East Kilbride.
The housing mix for social rent at the site, called Eaglesham View, includes cottage flats and family homes ranging from two-bedroom homes to four-bedroom homes.
Barratt Homes are building the homes on behalf of the council as part of a 294 unit mixed tenure development.
The homes are partly funded by More Homes Division at Scottish Government.
They will be added to the council’s housing stock when completed and are part of the Council’s current affordable housing supply programme, which is on track to deliver over 1,000 additional homes by 31 March 2027. First handovers are scheduled for December 2026 with final handovers anticipated in March 2027.
Chair of the council’s Housing and Technical Resources Committee, Councillor Davie McLachlan, said: “It’s fantastic news that we are continuing to make progress in improving the availability of high-quality social housing across South Lanarkshire.
“The important thing is that we are making a difference by providing more affordable social housing, of a variety that meets the needs of local people while maintaining affordability and value for money.”
Andy Curran, managing director, Barratt Homes West Scotland, said: “We’re pleased to be working in partnership with South Lanarkshire Council once again to deliver these 40 new affordable homes at Eaglesham View in Jackton.
“As a housebuilder, we recognise the important role we play in helping to meet the need for high-quality homes across the communities where we build. These new homes will provide a mix of accommodation for local people and families, helping to support a thriving and sustainable community in Jackton.
“We look forward to seeing the first homes completed and handed over to the council later this year, marking an important milestone for the development and for the families who will call Eaglesham View home.”
